Okay I have TWO 10 gallon power filters in my 10 gallon Dwarf puffer tank. I cleaned it like four days ago and what do you know, there's brown scum in patches on th glass! I think my puffers are just trying to bother me sometimes!

ALSO! On top of the messy tank,(not sure if anyone saw a post I made a while back on one of my Dwarfs being very skinny.) SirMinion Suggested that it was internal parisites that they get from getting stressed from being caught in the wild. I called up the place I ordered them from (Aquariumfish.net) and they said that they bred them in their hatchery. They were not imported from the wild. Yeah... The skinny puffer eats fine, acts fine, and plays with the other puffers all the time! :S I dont know, but it seems to me that I just have bad luck! :(

Then I really wouldn't worry. You get fat kids and skinny kids, so why not fat fish & skinny fish?

 Yeah I guess that's true! I was just worried.

EDIT: SirMinion, could you gime some help on my "Puffer for a 55" Topic if you get the chance?

I told you you should get some sort of alrgea eaters. Maybe snails but the puffers might eat them before they get a chance to eat any of the alrgea.

I've got this problem with my puffer tank, as well, and I've seen a lot of threads about it here.

I think the main problem is because puffers are so messy, nitrate levels are higher than they would be in other tanks. For this reason, there is an abundance of chemicals integral to the propagation of plants. Most of the time there aren't enough plants to possibly use up nearly enough of the nitrates, so algae is a great problem in puffer tanks.

Not much to do about it aside from get more plants, and get algae eaters. Make sure they won't outgrow a 10 gallon, though! I doubt snails would work, although there's one that's working its way around my tank without the puffer eating it.

Good luck in your ongoing battle!

get yourself some otto's. They're extremely good at eating algea problems away, and they're compatible w/ your puffers. Thats what I did and my algea problem is gone.
