..... and I'm gutted.

Were moving house and there's literally no space for my tank to go. Always thought my next tank would have been a bigger one, but I'm now going from a 4footer to a 3footer. And I keep cichlids, severum, fire mouth and a blue acara. They'll need to be re-homed in the very near future too.

Gutted gutted gutted

What about keeping the tank outside but under some sort of roof?

Not sure where you live but I can't imagine it's possible to keep a tropical tank up to temperature outside in Scotland - under a roof or not

Gutted for you Gary - but you clearly chose the wrong house!

I'm in SoCal, where it's 70 degrees 9 months out of the year. :p

Hmm what about multiple heaters, insulation around the tank? Even if it's kept in a garage?

According to a quick google search (might not be 100% accurate) the average January temperature in Scotland is about 40f

It's not by tank but I'd prefer a 3 footer in the house than a 4 footer wrapped up so much outside that you can see it

But in spring and summer and early fall the tank can be unwrapped and revealed to the world, and he could keep his fish!

I suppose WC's would be a pretty cold thing to do every week though.

Lol keeping it outside isn't really an option. With our -8 deg (on a bad night) winters? Plus, it would be an easy target for the local young team.

Just going to have to accept my fate and start the look out for a 3ft tank. My existing tank would fit in the kitchen/diner, but I want it in the living room. But the livingrooms the size of a shoe box, so that's that.

As for my stock. Think I'll need to go down the dwarf cichlids route eventually, because my severum especially, will quickly out grow a 3ft tank. There only 2-3" just now but they won't stay that size forever unfortunately.

I'm going to put a few adds up here and there and see if I can get a swap.

This is someone who has never been to Scotland!

Why don't you put it in the kitchen/diner and see how it goes? You never know, you might end up really liking it there. I have a small tank in my kitchen and I look at it loads!

It would probably still be in the way, plus I won't be able to see it from my seat if its in the kitchen. It would look amazing there though, but probably still too big.
