Dottyback/firefish?

i have been looking in to getting a firefish, but i have a neon dottyback. my lfs said there could be a problem between the two. i was wondering if i did an in tank refugium for the neon dottyback and added the fire fish for a week or so and then added the neon back in to the mix(poss. even change up the landscape some too) would this work for a smooth transision or should i just forget the whole idea?

Jeez, you could try it, but something tells me the neon dottyback would kill the damsel or any similar goby.

i have a small yellowtail damsel in the tank right now and he takes no guff from the dottyback, but thats no firefish either

Yeah, a damsel wont take any aggression from fish 4 times its size. I've seen a damsel bully a 6" angelfish. And I've seen plenty of gobies get harrassed by damsels and they have different body styles and color morphs.

damsel hasnt bothered my pearly jawfish, but they were introduced at the same time.
