went to mt LFS today and brought a fish and coral. And in there display tank they had the most beautifull frogspawn i have ever seen it was so colourfull and about 6" in diameter and its tenticles were so plump.

I got chatting to one of the workers and he recommended i buy some iodide made by seachem and dose it with about 5mm every other day ( going by the dasage amounts on the bottle) and it will help my corals to grow and get more colourfull etc

What kind of advantages can i see from adding iodide every other day??

Be a little cautious with iodide as you shouldn't as a general rule add anything to the water that you dont test for or know what the knock on effects are, being honest it seems a little blazae to just say add 5mm every other day as you dont know what the ideal value is your looking for.

I fell into this trap when i first started and being honest didnt really see a great deal of difference from where i am now (2 years on), being honest I would say that its better to check your water prams and make sure they stay within tollerance as this will be better for the life of the coral, as for the frogspawn coral good water quality and correct calcium level (being its a hard coral) would probably be better than just randomly adding iodide.

It says on the packaging about testing for iodide levels ime guessing this is done by a test kit using titration method. ill get myself a kit when i next goto LFS

Was just after some input on weather anyone has had good experiences with it thats all.
