Don't Ream Me For This...

how high from the base/substrate would they get than? maybe around 3-4" also?

so far i know i need a container that is at least 48" L x 4.5" W x ??" H

how high would the container need to be?

i know the countainer i have is at least 48" long and it is way more than 4.5" wide. but how tall should it be?

thanks for the help in advanced guys

morgan- i know the feeling. i had to catch him out of the tank and put him into a critter keeper so he stayed in the open and i can photo him. the greatest things are always the biggest pains in the butt. he only got active in the last month or so. at first he only came out at night and was shy even hten. now he comes out during the day (at least while the light is on). he is much more comfortable in there. and i know he gets enough food. if not he wouldn't be alive as i have had him for 3-4 months and wactually went away for 2 weeklong breaks (2 seperate breaks) and he was great when we came back and is growing.

edit: for typing errors

Hi, the height of the tank/container should be twice the length of the fish. Catfish jump! You will also need some kind of lid to stop him jumping out IMO. I think my Pleco is probably 2" from stomach to back, not including the dorsal fin which is about another 3". As I said I have to guess the measurements. I know he is 12" long as I held a tape measure up to the tank but the other measurements are my estimate. :)

It sounds ok for a temporary home. He might need a little more space for turning round. :) You might not need such a deep container, just twice the height of the Pleco. My Pleco is in a 24" deep tank and he is 12".
