I already keep discus and a reef tank.

The new tank is 48 by 12 by 15, about 36 gallons.
i carnt decide weather to keep tanganyika or malawi cichlids from africa.
Which are the easiest to keep?
Which are suitable for this size tank?
thanks

I found this posted in the fish index. Moved.

There are cichlids from both Tanganyika and Malawi that are suitable for this tank, but the question of which is better depends on what kind of tank you are looking for. There are so many fish comprising these lakes that it's tough to know where to start. For someone with a reef tank I'd venture to say that niether is difficult to keep. The most difficult part is planning the tank so that the fish are compatible.

Malawi is more about very colorful fish that use the whole tank in endless chasing, darting, foraging, and breeding. Excellent show tanks and usually kept crowded. These tanks usually range from moderate to heavy rockscaping.

Tanganyika is more about monogomous pairs or harems staking out a piece of real estate to call their own and protecting it - these guys are much more about behavior then color, and generally lead to a less crowded environment (with some species a pair would take your whole tank as the territory). Some incredibly unique and rare cichlids come from this lake.
