Are silver dollars ok in a tank with cichlids?

they are very often used as dithers with the larger cichlid species. so in a short answer to your question, Yes.

As the above said, yes. But make sure you have an adequate tank size to house both these fish and the Cichlids you wish to add.

As already said, they make good dithers for cichlids so yes, but you will need a large enough tank for a good sized shoal of them, best kept in groups of 6+ or they can be very skittish, so minimum size tank really is about 75g for 6 of them, then of course you need to take into account the size of the cichlids you are keeping.
