dojo loaches

i was just at petsmart and i was going to get a goldfish but none really caught my eye. they get a new shippment in tomorrow so i may go saturday afternoon and get one if i see a real nice one. while there i almost got a dojo loach which they keep with the goldfish but i resisted. can you give me all the info you have on them....basicly i want size, tank size, temp requirements, what they eat, and behavior.....stuff like that.

well i had a gold dojo loach and it ate whatever the goldfish didnt. it didnt get very big but it died when it got caught in the filter intake, so be careful of that. it liked to dig too, and move plants around.

i have 5 loaches and to me they are very useful to clean inside of any orgaments for trap foods where big fishs cant reach and my loaches hide behind my powerhead to rest or in my cannons and caves and so far none of my weed havent been brought up so i advise once u purchase the loach and few week later if your loach brought out your weed then place the weed somewhere esle not same place as i have experince that puttin weed back in same place and come out again so i place it eslewhere and since then havent been brought up again

is a 29 gal with a goldfish or 2 ok with dojos? is there anything special i need to do for them besides hiding places.

I'd say just about. Dojos get to about 12'', so I'd only go with one or two, but they are long and flexible.

They are social and like to be in groups so get at least 2.

My wife has 2 of them and they are her favourite fish, one is a normal dojo loach but she just got a golden one last week with black spots on, he is stunning.

Id say you have room for 2 without problem, they dig into the gravel and get food that would normally stay there tioll you do a gravel vac so they are good in that way but they do chase the fish on occasion, other than very slight nips to the tail they dont hurt them but it is very infrequent, Ive never seen the golden one doing it yet mind.
