Doing the fishless cycle

I just recently bought a 55 gal tank i set it all up sand, filters, rocks, plants wood and whatnot... I bought some Ammonia and I am jsut wondering how much would i add to a 55 gal tank and how much of a spike do i need?

All concentrations of ammonia are different. You need to slowly start adding and keep testing about an hour after you add, until you reach aroudn 5.0 ppm. My 10 gallon took almost a teaspoon. But other people have done larger tanks with the same amount. Just keep testing till you got it. Then remember how much you used...
