Hi all

I wondering how everyone does a water change when they have fry in net breeders. As the water goes down it obviously goes lower than the net breeders with the fry in. So what I have been doing is putting the net breeders in a bucket filled with tank water. Then do the water change in the tank then wait till the temp in the tank is similar to the bucket. (this can take a while as I use cold water for water change). I did try using hot water from the tap but it caused me problems.

any ideas?

Sounds like you've got an ideal solution there.

I did the same when I had fry in a net too. Seemed like the only option really - other than getting a small tank and using it as a fry tank as I do now

I just pushed the net down the side of the tank with the water level, and raised it back up as it filled it.

My TopFin fry net had a suction cup mounted to a horizontal bar that slides up & down on 2 vertical rails. It cost $5 at either PetSmart oir Petco, can't remember which.

Mine floats with a couple of air pockets, so I don't have this problem.

Why not equalise the water change so that you can put the fry back in sooner? How much heat does the bucket lose before you can put the fry back?

I need one of those like above which moves up and down with the water level. I can only find it in USA shop - http://www.petsmart.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3788232 . any one know any UK shops selling it?

Thanks

I have one like this one from ebay uk, it goes up and down with the water as it floats!

The standard breeder nets are fine with the suction cups to secure on the tank wall, but a cool DIY would be to attach a couple of Styrofoam pieces to the top sides so for water changes, it would float.
