Does Your Partner Like Your Tank?

I don't have a partner that lives with me, but my most recent ex-boyfriend finds fish quite creepy actually

I'm glad to be moving into my own apartment in a month though, my parents tolerate the fish, but I have to keep all tanks in my small bedroom and computer room... they aren't allowed to branch out into the rest of the house :p

perhaps the question should not be "does your partner like your tank?" but rather, "do your fish like your partner?" :p

I don't talk about the fish with my husband, and he rarely asks questions. He's been pressuring me to make my reef tank beautiful but I'm not buying good lights until next month, so he has to wait. I hate it when he asks how much something is or was, so I just avoid the topic as much as possible. I told him last night that my lights were going to be $650 ...yeah. Not his favorite subject.

i have a very small room and my parents are using that, along with, 'i dont like it when they die' as reasons for not letting me get any more tanks. otherwise i'd have loads...

GF talks about it sometimes, but mainly bout the prettyness... (her words..) and about how much she despises my apple snail...

My hubby laughed at me when I said I wanted a fish tank for my birthday, and asked if I'd rather have some nice jewellery or something! Anyway, got to the LFS and by the time we got the 30g tank home and set up he was as excited as me!

Now we have a 125gal (uk) waiting to be set up in our lounge!!! :hyper:

siobhan loved it when i got the 20G.
I always thought you were a "her" not a "him"

actually i thought u were a guy till i read a thread the other day so thats weird..

I'm really lucky with my girlfriend. She's always on about getting a dog, but sadly I'm desperate not to get one as the responsibility to go along with it is something I'm not looking to do. She's fantastic though, and really does care about the fish I keep. There is a compromise however, I won't buy fish that she really dislikes the look of, or really doesn't like the personality of.

She even does water changes for me occasionally and helps me out if I need little maintenance jobs done.. She's great, the only thing better than my fish really.

I can imagine the conversation:

Wuv's husband (WH): so, when you gonna make that tank look nice

Wuv (W): when I get the lights

WH: how much are they?

W: uuuuum, I'll go and make some tea

WH: go on, money is no object!

W: (in a very low mutter) $650

WH: (on the floor)

:D

I'm lucky as my husband is as mad on tropical fish as I am. We bore all our friends and family with the latest news about our 'babies'! But I'm the one who reads up on/surfs the net for fishy info. Now I'm trying to persuade him to swap our tetras for some dwarf rainbows. He mumbles something like 'When they die off, maybe'. But tetras can live for several years so I might have a long wait for my rainbows! Maybe I can persuade him to let me have a tank of my own :D

My boyfriend is the reason i got into fish, he had a 4ft tank when i met him and I loved it that was last May now we have the 4ft, a 3ft (mine) a 2ft (mine) and various little tanks used for hospital or fry and today I went and got a 23ltr that my betta is being moved into when we move in a month. I have been told that “no more tanksâ€￾ but we will see :D
