Hi All,

Just wondering... ....as we can all get so hooked on our fishkeeping we can tend to spend more and more time with the fish rather than the wife, girlfriend, boyfriend, husband, kids etc!

I know my wife really hates it some times when I spend an evening messing with 'that damned fish tank!', and sometimes couldn't care less what was in it! (i.e. me "look how lovely the ram's colours are developing"... ...wife "wish you'd never got the thing in the first place") :grr:

What does your partner think of your tank and hobby? :dunno:

I live with CFC so it's me living with his tanks - I think they're great, if he didn't have them I'd have to talk to him. :p

nope he's as bad as I am, got 6 tanks between us now and possibly planning the 7th.

pretty much every evening at the moment we have dinner, chat about our day etc etc etc do what we have to do, then settle down to talk fish, I go on t'interweb to research and ask questions, he tinkers with the tanks  such an exciting life we lead!

It's tolerated and some mild interest is showed - but only to amuse me I think.
But sharp interest is showed with any new purchases and inspected for how much I spent on them !

Unfortunately my wife has no interest what so ever. I have tryed to get her interested even to the point of seeing if she would like her own tank, but no, not in the least bit interested.

My kids are different though they are all keen to see what is going in next and can they feed the fish for me and more often than not are very helpful. Mind you they are 6 years and 3 years, the teenager just thinks I'm Sad.

Still never mind,

Rich :)

My husband is pretty sick of it all i think. He has put his foot down to another tank :'( and states "oh no not the LFS" on a weekend!

Kris seems to like it a bit more nowdays. She just recently got her own tank and is all for the idea of a 125 or 250g tank that i plan on building next year after we move to a bigger house. Most of the times its her that is suggesting that we go to the LFS for whatever or asking if I need some new type of plants or parts. The kids, especially my daughter love looking at the "fee fees" or insisting that she gets to feed them for me. My son though is kinda hit or miss at times

That's the one!

He's not too bad about the money, I think he has some vague male idea that I still come cheaper than most wives, seeing that I very seldom go out, don't wear make-up and hardly ever buy new clothes (I wear whatever his Mum gets me for Christmas, that's how interested I am).

Now that sounds like me ! And truth be told he probably doesn't really care what i spend my money on(he buys far more "toys" than me) because he knows I spend wisely - and I'm even in charge of his finances :hey:
But I think he's more afraid of (tank) expansion!

I think I was luck my wife agreed to the RIO125 (she was happy because I had just redecorated the kitchen)... ...I am really pleased with it but i know it will be my one and only tank!

In contrast to my wife my daughter (2.5 yrs) loves the tank and can even name all the species!

well dont let him sell up then :hey:

He knows what I feel on that subject - but in the end it's his decision. He never tells me what to do with my inverts. we are keeping the brackish with my morays in, Mr hanky is still be discussed (well I am anyway) and the rest are not my business. though maybe with all the money he saves he can take me out lots (eh CFC :p )

He has no say in wether he likes it or not...!
No actually, he gets really fed up when I talk to the fish, (I only do this when I think he isn't listening - and sometimes he os). I think thats less about the fish and more about me though!
I never ever take him to the LFS. Somethings are just not worht the aggro.
