So I was thinking of getting a small plastic container filling it up with gravel and putting some valisnira in it and hygrophila in it.

How deep is the pond, and from that, which species of Vallisneria would you pick? They grow to different heights. I would go with a sand gravel substrate in a pond, for plants. If I remember, yours is really shallow though.

yeah, it's really shallow but it should just cover over the top i don't now what species but i got it from a friend and its pretty tall but should be fine.

Hi BenjI k, I actually have (for 3 years) Vallisneria spiralis (Jungle Val) growing in my outdoor pond. I assume Biscane is ‘down under’ and if so, I think your coldest temp is about 40-degrees F. My Vals briefly ‘survive’ in similar temps but if we are getting a long cold spell, I use a pond heater. No idea about the hygrhilia.

yeah mine doesn't have a heater I'm going to fill up a little container with gravel and put the valisnira in ther and the coldest it normally gets is 20 degrees.
