Rio 125 with internat filter, T5 lights and a second hand protein skimmer that has come off a 5 foot succcessful marine reaf tank.

the answer would be nothing since you havent given us enough info, you say marine tank but what marine tank? FO, FOWLR or reef? How many watts is the T5 light, T5 pc or T5 linear? T5 NO or T5 HO? GPH of the filter? Brand of protein skimmer, more info needed.

well i was thinking of getting fish only at first and add live rock and finaly coarl at a later stage. (sorry if i am bieng a bit thin on the details) I dont know what wattage the lights are but the one i was loking at in the shop had standard lights so he said he would order in a tank with T5 lights that would be suitable for coral at little extra cost. The scimmer i am also not shure about it is ment to be worth £150 new and did alring on a 5 foot tank but i am going back tomorow to check and get more details

find out if the skimmer is air powered, venturi, needle-wheel, spray (aquaC), and whether or not it is a recirculating.

there is none..... It all comes down to how the skimmer was made to fit the way it is used. There are some really bad venturi skimmers like the fission nano but there are brilliant ones like the tunze DOC's (are all the DOC's venturi?). Needle wheels are the most popular though.

hay the fussion isant bad, a friend of mine uses it on a 9 gallon nano and says the tank has improved (corals look brighter, im not sure as i dont have corals myself). Each to his own i guess

well it was rated number one on most worthless thing ever bought for your reef tanks on another forum (i will not disclose the name...)

Thats the one i ment sorry (im a plonker and its 6am and i havnt been to bed)
I doubt i would buy one myself but i cant disagree when someone proves to me that it has worked, maybe they are usless because nano skimmers are unnecessary.

i also heard those fission skimmers suck. some people say they suck because the water level has to be constant, but in any tank, the water level always changes.

All i know about the scimmer is that it hangs on the back its old and its come off a succcessfull marine aquarium. My local pet shop never actualy stocks skimmers it only has a £200 sort of external sump like thing wih a skmmer on the top.

I have found out that the skimmer is a "red sea prizm hang on turbo injector."
Can someone please explain to me what this means and wether it is good or not.

P.S is it noisy? and would u consider this size of tank a nano(125 litre)?

heard that it wasnt that good, the deluxe probably helps it a bit but ive heard pretty bad stuff about it skimming.

But on a second note i heard it was a great football, if you see what im saying.

You want a quite skimmer? Go with a tunze, those things are SILENT
