Does anyone else's Betta do this?

Well despite not having any symptoms of any type disease I came in to work today to find him dead :-( .

Like I said he got his water changed daily..so I cut that to every other day to see if minimizing the changes might help him out (if it was stressing him or something).

I changed water conditioner, put him away from my desk to see if he was just overly sensitive to any vibrations that could be going on.

He never gave off any signals that he was sick..other then hanging out around the bottom. No fins were ever clamped, he ate fine, pooped fine, acted fine if I gave him attention, ect.

I am a complete loss as to what went wrong with this fish :(. Everyone else gets the same treatment...and no one else is acting "off".

R.I.P. Kao :byebye:

sorry to hear about your fishie...could it have been old age? :rip:

edit: just read your first post, my mistake!!

I think he is getting old. It is ok, things come and go by the way. That is why if you buy betta on petstore, some of them already one years old or more. Don't worried, be happy. He should be so lucky to have you in his life. You been pamper him a lot and he will always up there saying good things about you. :D
Now go get another one because they need your help! :p

The fish wasn't old..unless the AB breeder did not tell the truth about him. The ad stated he was less then 6 months old (4 if I'm not mistaken), I only had him a month and a half. He was one of my Thailand import Betta's.

I only have 2 that are pet store variety, but only one came from an actual local store..actually not even a "pet" store, he came from a fish shop (but not the one who died though.)

Uha. Now I see the picture after telling all about the betta.
Yes, some bettas cannot adapting the water in USA too. Did you used black waters and indian almond leaf to conditioning the water too besides dechlorine? I have few like that too that were import from Thailand. After using the solution, they were ok but still lazy and it just the type of betta they breed. Bad gene. I got two male from the same breeder and it is suck althought they are pretty. They want to look died if they didn't see each other infront of them. Weird bettas. Give them a female also no mood. I think they are really born gay pair. :)
Yes, make sure don't buy any bettas from the same breeder anymore no matter how cheap they put up the price. That type of betta is very weak type gene.
If you want to get good betta gene, get from the top list breeders because they have raputation in the world. Expensive doesn't matter because they are healthier with good gene. :)

sorry to hear about your loss just one question was the tank bare and is that a picture of plants behind as they do like something close to the surface to lie on now and again, were they can rest i have small plastic semi floating plant on my barracks so the can rest close to the surface.......just a thought perhaps he could see plants but not get to them to rest..... :( :( :( rip

Yes the tank's are bare...they are beanie baby boxes. There's really no room to put a plant and leave them room to swim around. When I finish the new tank I am building there will be, but for now...no room.

i see reflections in the picture, does he run into the walls alot when he swims around. my GF had a problem where the fish became retarded (fish retarded that is hehe) from hitting the sides all the time.

Nope. It was rare that he got upset about anything...he rarely flared and if he did it was only for a few minutes and not very aggressive at all. He was a very chilled out fish imo.

As with alot of pictures...the pictures did him no justice.

He was bright, just bright white. There was no pinksh colroing to him at all...just pure, snow white color.

I don't usually care for white fish, becasue generally they have a pink look to them...and it appears "raw"...but when I saw him...man.

When I got him..he was even prettier then the picture made him out to be. He really liked me too. He would interact with me anytime I went over to his box. He liked to have his background changed..but preferred the one in the pictures for one reason or another.

When I would change his background (usually during water change and tank cleaning time) he would swim up and down and back and forth checking out every corner (they wrap completely around, leaving only a 2" gap on either side..where I could remove the card and let them see each other) of the new background. But he was always happiest when I put him back in his box with his background...he would make sure it was ok before he would even eat lol. He would even swim into the cup I use, to take them out of their tanks at cleaning time, when I woudl stick it in his box.

He had a mad look on his face all the time..but he wasn't a grumpy fish though...that look was just due to his white"eyelids" lol. He would even allow me to stroke him sometimes...but only if he initiated it first.

I will miss him...but I woudl miss any of my fish should they come to an early demise, like my blue boy Nin did as well. I play witht hem too much probably..but they are with me at work..and I am here for 12 hours a day, plus they go home with me on teh weekends...lol so they are like dogs...just smaller to me.

Seeing the robot operated by the betta makes me wish they could come up with a little voice activation system..so they could tell you what is wrong, when something is going wrong with them.
