Hi all. Got pressured to add the fish a little too soon, and the tank hadn't cycled. I was also recently dealing with an algae bloom and pulled a neon for what I believe to be TB  THEN, with the algae starting to come back under control, the nitrite spikes way high... probably better than 5 on the liquid tests. :shout: So now, I have the sterilizer that I ordered for control the algae and diseases, but I am unsure as to whether to install it right away or wait until I get the nitrite situation under control. I'm torn because stressed fish are more susceptible to the water borne pathogens, but at the same time, I need to spread the good bacteria throughout the tank.

Recommendations anyone?

I would ask in tropical discussion.
Good luck.

as the bacteria are, for the most part, in your filter it should have little effect on them. there is little on no nitrifying bacteria in the water.

Okay, here's where I stand at the moment...

Tank is algae free with water that is crystal clear... but somewhat toxic.
The sterilizer installation is on hold for the moment, I still need to sort out the best method of plumbing it.
It seems that I am in the midst of a cycle.

On that note, has anyone used Seachem's Purigen? I think I will start this up on it's own thread, as I think many could be interested.
