Does A Pregnant Guppie Have A Black Spot

Can anyone tell me how i know if my guppie is pregnant both females av got a black spot and are quite big does this mean they are pregnant ?

All female Livebearers always have a gravid spot, if that's what you mean. It's where they have their reproductive organs and where they store sperm and eggs. Simply having it does not mean they are pregnant. If it's darker, then yes, they most likely are pregnant. Since they are fat too, that pretty much confirms they are pregnant.
 
I read somewhere that this gravid spot was due to the eyes forming in the fry inside the mother..

is this true or is it a wives tail.

I would say they are pregnant, and i wish you happy joys.... i hope you got enough cigars to cover it... :lol:

It's true that it gets darker and more visible with the eyes, but that's not what the gravid spot is. :)
 
Yes and No.
there are 2 solutions to this.
one of which is not so good.the black spot sometimes indicates the fish is constipated however
this is also a symbol of pregnancy.

Yes, depending on the coloring. Orange and yellow Guppies tend to have redder spots then say....brown ones. :)
