Does anybody else have periods of no fish dying, everything running fine then all of a sudden you lose 3 or 4? :(

I've noticed it a few times, I've had none die, or very few over the last 3-4 months or so and this last week ive lost 3

A Black Molly, a Tiger Barb and a Sucking Loach -

Only reminents found of the Molly was a head, nothing of the loach (gawd knows where its gone) and just found the crab-mutilated body of the Barb floating on the surface

I dont think its anything to do with the crabs, I've had these crabs and some before and they've got along with the fish in harmony

Red claw crabs are opertunistic predators that will make a meal of any fish they are able to catch, they especially like to grab bottom dwellers while they are sleaping.

How often do you do water changes and do you test your water regularly?

I do a water change every couple of weeks, haven't tested it for a loong time.

The crab just scavenges the dead fish, although i suppose they couldve got the one loach during the night

ive noticed that. On eof my Swordies got stuck under a rock and died then my panda cories died. In my 55 3 albino cories died and then my other swordie got killed by my betta. THen back in the 10 gallon 2 green cories died. I know it sounds like a lot bu tthis is over the course of a year and the Albino and Green cories deaths were my fault because of a stupid move.
