Hello I am not a begginer to keeping tropical fish i have keeped fish for about 3 years and recently i have set up a new tank (64 liters) and i am thinking of buying some angle fish. What i wanted to know was will angel fish be ok with 2x holpo catfish 2x clown loach 7x guppys and a silver shark. I would like to know wether angle fish will work with the fish i have?

Hi and welcome, unfortunately the only fish that you have listed suitable for your tank size is the guppies  the others just get far to big

No, and please sort out the current stocking:
* hoplo cats grow up to 8 inches long, so should have at least a 4*2*2 ft tank
* clown loaches are schooling (keep 6+ and grow up to 16 inches so should live in a 6*2*2 ft tank or larger
* bala (silver) sharks are schooling and grow up to 16 inches so should live in a 6*2*2 ft tank or larger

Angels are, in my experience, schooling, so should be kept in groups of 6+ as well, also they should have at least a 2 ft tall tank, and (again, this is from my personal experience) a 4 ft long tank.

Guppies are a great fish for a tank that size and 7 is a nice group :)

Thank you for your replys and i will sort out my current tank size. thank you

I always think it's a shame about Angels. I love them too but can't have them.

I really think someone should invent a smaller and more peaceful Angelfish ;)

My husband has a 20g and keeps talking about getting angels. I refuse to let him! I found my longfin black skirt tetras are the closest thing. I love them and they're very pretty, as well as entertaining.

Are they the same as Black Widows? I've always thought they have a resembelence!

There is a species of Angel suitable for smaller tanks, P.leopoldi grows to around 3-4 inches but is very aggressive!

I've seen them referred to by that name. I think mine are terrific.

Oh they look just like regular Angels. Shame they're more agressive though.

Well, no, they're not just like regular angels. And mine aren't aggressive with any of my other fish. They just chase each other around.

Ah the pics I got must have been of regular Angels coz they looked like the bottom one not the top.

My observation of P. leopoldi has been that they are not any more aggressive than P. scalare, if given a decent environment. Most adults I have seen have had a 4" body, but are only 6-8" tall and 7-6" long, unlike scalare.
