Do you keep Tropheus? What variants? What setup & tankmates?

Do you currently keep Tropheus? If so, what variants? And what tank size and tank mates?

Here's what I keep...

Tropheus MOORII NKONDE -> 16 fishes [unknown M/F ratio] -> 150-gallon [48" x 24" footprint] --> Tankmates: Tanganicodus Irsacae, Panaque Nigrolineatus

Tropheus MOORII NSUMBU -> 12 fishes [unknown M/F ratio] -> 55-gallon [48" x 12" footprint] --> Tankmates: Synodontis Petricola

Colony 18 Ikola in a 90 gallon with a dozen cyprochromis and a group of Multipunctatus.. They got along fine but the cyps suffered from the diet so they were moved. Lovely fish but only good for those who can appreciate a species tank.

Tropheus MOORII NSUMBU -> 12 fishes [unknown M/F ratio]

Fish were 2.5" or so, and approx. two years old, according to the previous owner. I only had them about 4 months. Sold for $125 CA ($109 US) to a fellow local collector who is returning to Tropheus after a few years away from them.

Getting 22 1" F1 Tropheus Moorii "Ilangi' in about a week.

May eventually add Julie. Marlieri or Transcriptus, Goby Cichlids or Syno. Multies.

Don't bother adding gobies as they won't like the hussle bussle of the tropheus setup. They require more turbulant water than tropheus.

I've gopt 4 x Tanganicodus Irsacae F0 with my Tropheus Moorii Nkonde F1 colony and all involved are doing A+.

Yeah, the person from whom I'm buying my babies has an adult colony of the Ilangi and F0 (I think) Gobies (not sure on the species) and I have to say, they seem to be doing well.

Though in the end, I may just stick to a larger colony of Tropheus (keeping the babies).

For one, I don't like the different dietary needs of the all the fish. It's quite risky with getting much animal protein into the Trophs diet (such as what Julies like to eat).
