Do you have Cherry Shrimp?

Are these male or female.. are they carrying eggs?

The two orange/red shrimps are females but I can't see any eggs in the photo.

The shrimp in the middle of the photo might have a saddle, it's difficult to be sure with the strand of moss in the way. The saddle is the ovaries filling with eggs, they show through the 'skin'.

Just got a dozen more, to add to my starter group, which seems to be doing ok, as I see about half of them, when I look in the tank…. And half the time I can’t even see my female high fin sunset platy in there, with the Java ferns … the platy fry continues to grow they are about 3/4 of an inch long now… I got some Bacteria AE and put one batch in the shrimp tank today… thinking I’ll supplement the tank, but not daily dose it… at least to start

I bought 20 fire red cherry neos to start my shrimp tank. I purchased them from The Shrimp Farm. The shrimp were mailed USPS and were supposed to arrive in 2-3 days. They arrived on day 5. Five shrimp were DOA. I just ordered 20 more fire red neos but this time I used Aquatic Arts. They ship UPS next day air for only $27. More expensive than USPS but I think all 20 shrimp will arrive alive.

Try aquahuna.

I feed my shrimps Dennerle Shrimp King Complete - a small amount every other day. The dose rate is 5 mm of a stick per 30 shrimps. I feed less than that each time.
All that's in this tank is shrimps, one Clithon snail and a few pest snails.
I bought Dennerle Shrimp King Complete for my Neocaridina but they totally ignore the 5 mm stick. They just much on biofilm. What is up with that?

Mine do eat it, but I feed less than 5mm every few days, and I crush it to powder before putting it in the tank.

I noticed 4 tiny cherry shrimp on the front glass of my tank. So I have my first successful spawn of cherry shrimp. Out of the 6 original cherry shrimp, 4 survived but soon I will have many more cherry shrimp in the tank.

Cigars for everyone :big_boss:
