I'm having another die-off, it seems. My first ladyboy, Yuang, died yesterday, from something internal no meds have been able to shift, and Tiberia is on her way out... I might euthanise, she's gone from continual floating to laying on the bottom with rapid breathing. I think it's TB. But it seems to me a lot of people in the betta section also experience a lot of bettas dying at the same sort of time, and partly out of curiosity and partly out of wondery why, I thought I'd see how many actually do.

I only have 9 and it seems like I haven't had any deaths recently. . . (knock on wood!) But I haven't really given it a thought.

Ditto Joby. I always fight it, trying desperately to save their lives, but when nothing I do helps, sometimes I get really discouraged. Because I’ve really tried my hardest to save them and they should recover, but then they die and it’s so depressing. I've tested the water, but I never detect anything. Maybe the new RO water will help.

In my latest die off i lost 4 bettas over about 3 months. i think it was caused by the boys all being about the same age, then one of them came down with columnaris and it just spread through out the barracks. they were all old and just couldnt fight the infection off. Its so heart breaking just watching your babies die and nothing your doing seems to be helping.

Thankfully no. Have only lost one to a very nasty and virulent disease and that was very rapid. :-(
I suspect it will happen when they all reach old age at the same time and their numbers are called in for betta heaven. At which time I will be a very sad person. Am hoping it's a very long way off yet though!
Hugs,
P.

I am not usually superstitious, but they seem to die in pairs of 3 around me. I lost 3 within two days, then less than a week later, another three within two days. My friend just lost her gold fish and then within two days, her two molly fry. Wierd, huh? My dad says bad and good things happen in threes. And when I crashed my car, within a couple months I had had two other minor accidents (not my fault those times!). It sounds like I'm stringing things together, but I've been driving for a while with no much as a scratch and then a few months and what? 3 accidents.

Then, I dumped my loser boyfriend, got 4.0 semester grades, and got a raise at work. It's the threes, I'm telling ya....

craaaaaaaazy  :S
