Just a query to see what Fresh Veg do people feed their fish.

Mine loves Cucumber, no so much a fan of zucchini. Want to try others but after ideas. I did read somewhere on the net someone tried banana skin.

There's so little nutrition in cucumber it's hardly worth the bother, IMO.

I feed mine melon (rind on), tomato (an end slice with no seeds, so it holds together), peas (lightly cooked and 'de-shelled'), scalded lettuce (a nice green one, like Romaine, not iceberg!), courgette (that's what we call zucchini in the UK, again; lightly cooked) and apple.

I don't think I'd want to try banana skin; I would have thought that would foul the water very quickly.

I think it's a bit dodgy feeding sugary fruit to fish. Where in the wild would they naturally find and eat fruit?

I feed courgette as my otos, corys and amano shrimp eat the meat and skin and my tetras and rasboras eat the seeds (whole!).

Loads of rivers have fruit trees that drop overripe fruit into the water; the major part of the pacu's diet is fruit and nuts from trees, and most fish will nibble at anything that comes their way :good:

I feed my snails cucumber if that helps, and its demolished in 24 hrs, the barb and plecs I have even have a nibble, even my kuhli like it now and again, it might have no nutritional value but it gives them something to do :D

You could feed iceberg lettuce, there's nothing bad in it, it's just like cucumber in that it's almost all water and no nutrition. I've tried carrot (you need to cook it a bit first, just to soften it), but nothing in my tanks ate it; not even the snails.

I feed my Oto's courgette, green beans, broccoli stems & my platys love the broccoli florets.
I just Blanche them for a couple of minutes.
No need to use tank water, just pop them in a pan

Zucchini (or as we true Brits prefer to call it, Courgette)after a 10-15 sec blast in the microwave is a must for my Cochliodon (L137)

Mind you he has to fight the rest off first!
