Hello!

Bought myself a pair of lurverly Butterfly Rams, or Bolivian Rams, or Butterfly Ciclids ( what do i actually call them??!!) and they have settled in well.

But do i need to do anything special with them?

They seem quite happy on the food i have been using, but would hate to think they need a bit more something.

I currently feed the whole tank on flakes and sinking pellets, and also throw in a couple of cubes of frozen bloodworm every 3/4 days, and everyone in there seems fine and dandy.

Any feedback would be greatly recieved!

Thanks

Anyone??? :D
It does depend on which you have.

If it is a ram also known as the Butterfly Cichlid or Dwarf Butterfly Cichlid then it's Papiliochromis ramirezi
Looks like this:

If it's an African Butterly Cichlid then that's something different Anomalochromis thomasi.

Assuming you have a ram then this is what the books say. They like some densely planted areas for hiding and space for swimming. They need soft water and a neutral to acid pH ideally. It also says that they appreciate a quiet, community aquarium with schools of tetras to act as look outs as they are somewhat nervous fish, despite their name. They swim in the middle to lower regions of a tank. They usually pair up and have a relatively short life span apparantly. Not sure how true this is as Baensch book is well old  They accept all food types flakes, pellets, frozen but benefit from live foods such as daphia and blood worm.

:D Thankyou!

Defo the top picture. And i do have various Tetra and plants so i think they will be happy little fish.

Thanks again!
