I have an un-wanted fish in my tank that messes my whole tank up! He doesn't do anything wrong, I just feel bad because he's a tetra and supposed to be with other tetras. I've had him for about a year now, so it's full grown. I dont think my local Petco would take him back, but I'm not sure. Do petcos take fish back?

i'm not sure about petco, since i live in canda. But i know my lfs will gladly take it for a trade in. If not you can alwasy offer them the fish without asking for anything in return (at least he'll live and be with other tetras).

today i just traded in my 4 danios for an instore credit of $2.50, but then there are other stores that won't do that :/

My LFS takes fish back but don't give anything in return (although i did manage to swop two shubunkins for a ranchu).
You can only ask :)

most of teh chain stores, such as petco and petsmart, do not take fish from teh public, unless of course you bought the fish there and youre bringing it back within their return time frame. its a business thing. but privately owned shops will quite often take fish off your hands, you'd have to call around and find out.

Well mine take fish back but there's a time gap after so long nah and it's usually only if they're dead or completely unsuitable to the tank i.e a purchased mistake just ask but on a more positive note why not get some company for him and buy some other tetras? They're hardy wee fish and quite beautiful I have some myself and am planning on getting more in the future once they're moved to another tank to avoid them getting munched as mates get bigger. :)

I work at Big Als and we take in fish and give store credit
what a coincidence

I just bought $50+ worth of plants, driftwood, gravel and gravel syphon from big al's today. The one in Ottawa of course. They have a wide selection of fishes there, including this 1.5' shark that's their main attraction. You can goin on Tuesdays and watch them feed it at 7 pm. Sorry I'm rambling...

Cheers,
