well, since i'm not sure when my LPS is getting their next fishie order in, i'll be setting up now! i'm going to buy both the half-gallon Smallworld tanks at the store, perhaps i'll use my BettaHex as well for Pierce since he likes it so much, but i don't think so. half-gallons are as low as i go!

but, you see, there are also two gallon tanks at the LPS, and i have a gallon bowl and an Aquaview+...

i see a divider =) i have the materials, i can do it, so i will ^^ so, by the next fishie order their Bettas won't last a day!

with this, i'll be able to pick up nine new boys... maybe some girls for the community, too...

Uh oh! Here we go!!!! Betta fleet wars! :hyper:

Edit addition: BTW, the Small World quart-size does fine for my guys, well, the six new ones at least. It makes for a REALLY cute display!

The six are from Petco and they keep them in those small half dixie cups. Those poor little guys don'r even have room to flare. Maybe a quart is too small for some people, but my guys seem to enjoy it better than the back-curving cup. And you can notice their fins are irritated because it has no room to grow. Even seen ingrown toenails? Just think about that with fins.

:kira: i don't really care where my fish live, as long as they're happy!

but sadly, i came across my first Betta Horror Story last weekend. while in Quebec i decided to check out the petstore where we got our first dog, to see if they had any interestingly colored/patterned Platties. instead, they had Bettas in tiny, round, quart fishbowls with enough water so they could flare out their ventrals and have only the tips touch bottom, though most of 'em didn't bother. the first one was okay, a bit listless. second was dead. third was hiding at the back of his cup, and looked the way people in horror movies do. you know, the whole, 'OHMYGOD, it's a freakin' GHOST man!!' wide-eyes thing? he looked like he was literally in shock. third i was tempted to buy, he was a gorgeous little Cambodian. but, his fins were all clamped up, and the anal fin had teh middle third ripped off. he had the same shocked look. the last boy i didn't look at, i was trying to figure out if i should waste my lunch money on a dual Betta Hex (15$?!) and save two, or a Betta Tank (14$) and save one, or a bunch of round, quart Kritter Keepers and save all of them.

i ended up leaving... sadness... i think i'll just get good, healthy fish from my reliable LPS.

Those must be those pint bowls and only filled halfway or less. :-(
