do i need a heater & filter for my betta its on a 2 g uk tank
wuill be getting it in a week

bettas like it warm, so yeah. it would become especially important during the winter when it gets as cold as it does here.

I struggle to imagine how big (small) a 2 gallon tank is, so not even sure if you could fit a filter and heater in.

heater yes, a 25watt one should be fine.
filter not necessary, just do water changes every 3-4 days.

edit: you say a 2gal UK
correct me if i'm wrong, uk gallons are smaller than us gallons yes?
when people on this board talk in gallons it's USUALLY US gallons they're talking in
so your tank is actually too small, at just under 1 US gallon I think, according to a converter:

2 gallon (UK) = 9.60762652919275 quart (US liq.)

try and get a bigger tank!!

wrong.

UK gallons are BIGGER than US gallons.....

2 UK gallons = just over 2.4 US gallons and is a prefectly adequate size tank for a single betta.

fish are cool....as advised, a heater will be required to maintain reasonable temp but as long as you keep up with regular water changes you can do without a filter.

ok so i will get a heater for my betta to be
how about dwarf frogs do they need a heater & filter

If you can get a filter as well, do so. I know most betta keepers don't bother with cycling or filters but you can actualy cycle a 2 gallon and that makes everything much easier on both you and the fish as you'll only need to do the usual weekly water change and the fish won't get stressed. Do make sure the filter is only small though - bettas don't like strong currents and, in some cases, a filter can pose the added threat of sucking up and shredding long betta fins. A sponge filter, even, would be adequate.

I'd ask about the frogs in teh invertebrates/amphibians forum - though I think a heater and filter would be beneficial.
