They are in a small tank..

1x Dwarf Blue Gourami
1x Gold Gourami
1x Rainbow Shark
5x Neon Tetras
3x Flame Tetras

I keep feeling that that shark shouldnt be ini there...although it isnt really a shark!

Seems to be all fine Kinhan. Although I'm not exactly sure with the tetras. Sharks pick on fish smaller then it. So if the tetras are smaller then the shark, you better of removing them or the shark. Rainbow Sharks are nice too - keep him, I have one myself, great attitude other than the slight bullying. :D

sic. My rainbow is actually quite well behaved. All my tetras are smaller than it....well the neons... the flame have grown biggish.

Tetras never have any trouble with shark. I think i got myself a good shark.! But i once tried platies... my shark didnt like them at all...

I like my shark! :D

Glad to see you like it! :D Sometimes you just get timid sharks if your lucky, but if you do see any violent action between the smaller fish and the shark, better to do something about it.

When you say they are in a small tank, how small do you mean?

Rainbow Sharks grow to an adult size of around 6 inches or so should not be kept in tank smaller than 25-30Gallons.

Rainbow sharks grow extremely slow, but i guess you should always have that larger tank ready

im not sure how many gallons it is...we dont use gallons here in australia...

its a 30 litre tank. i only got it for decoration in my room. the gold gourami has already grown too big for it i think, ill be giving it to some1 with a suitable tank soon, sad =( i raised it so big!!

I think the shark will grow to big for the small tank! The rest seems ok

30 litres is about 6-7 gallons- ie suitable for 6inchs of fish ie about 6 tetras, about the size most have as a breeding/hospital tank

Even your tetras on paper alone would make in over stocked :dunno:

Really have to make sure the filtration is good, and change the water.....well......alot! I would guess

that tank is WAY too small for all those fish!!! you are more than double overstocked. plan to upgrade to a larger tank ASAP, or get rid of some fish. the shark will get too big in the future for that size tank, and i don't know how all the fish have room to swim as is. hope you have good filtration, and are doing water changes at least every 5 days. a good rule of thumb is 1 inch of fish per gallon of water (1 inch = 2.54 centimeters, 1 gallon US = 3.78 liters). to keep all those fish togther, i'd say go with at least a 20 gallon US (75 liters) tank or larger. full grown you'll have 20 or so inches of fish.
just my opinion
but no, its not a weird combo or anything, you just don't have enough space.

everyone, Kihan never mentioned anything about her fish acting ill, which is a result of overstocking! my own tank should be reeking of dead fish by the 1" per gallon rule, but it isn't, in fact i'm positive it can handle more fish. if it can't, well they'll go back to the store.

i do agree that the Gouramis and Shark will be much to large for the tank, though. the Tetras are fine if the filtration and water changes are up to speed with their ammonia production skills :p

This combo seems to be fine, all need acidic water and should be fine. exept you might have trouble with the neons and gold gourami when he grows up(might try to eat them).

its not just about water conditions that we worry. yes, that can be combated with good filtration and maintanence. you can have more than the 1 inch per gal. i'm sure the fish ARE healthy but when you figure out how big each of those fish are at full grown size, they will not have much room to swim around comfortably. gouramis are territorial, and they won't have much territory either to defend or take refuge in. the shark is going to get too big to hve much room to turn around (unless of course there is nothing in the way of decor, which i'm sure there is some). and the schooling fish won'tahve space to school. if the two gouramis and the shark were moved into something bigger, the others could probably stay and be okay. we are assuming this person is a newbie and therefore it is a good idea for beginners to start with the 1 inch/gal rule, just to be on the safe sidde. thats all we're trying to say.
