when i buy fish i get a month "insurance" where if my fish die i can ntake them back and recieve store credit. i would just like to know if other people get this service
Nope this one lps has only a 2 week policy for dead fish but the strange thing is that after a couple days of the policy expiring the fish die. But I don't go there any more because I've never had a fish come from them and last more than a month. So I go to another place where the return policy is only for 2 days.
Most fish stores offer some type of return policy but some have stipulations on your water parameters. They make you bring in a sample of your water when you return the dead fish. If the parameters are bad (high ammonia and nitrate) they won't give credit.
Yeah thats how the one I go to is, if the water quality is bad then you don't get store credit but if you want another fish you have to get it then or you just lost ever how much money you spent on them.
Most shops I go to you get a 24 hour thing where if the fish dies in that time you can bring the dead fish back with a sample of you water, if the water is fine they will refund you but if there is a problem with your water they wont refund you but they will suggest a way of resolving the problem but my fish have always been fine.
Just noticed your from Sheilds Smurfy.....I used to live there!.....Im a Jarrow lad really but had a flat in whitelease for as bit before moving to Scotland.....what shop do you go to?....I worked in Fountain Aquatics years ago.
Well the first time I returned a dead fish to them (this was when I first started) I didn't know you were supposed to put them in a bag of water so I got a plastic bag and put the dead fish in their and then the next day I returned them, but man that bag stunk really bad.
My lfs gives you a refund if the fish dies with 7 days or a credit if the fish dies between 7- 21 days subject to you providing a water sample from the tank.
Yea, I live on Long Island too and have been at country critters. They have such a nice selection of fish but man are their prices expensive. I haven't gotten fish from them, cept a couple of feeder guppes to cycle a tank. Nice store=High Prices.
You just get a friend or a couple friends who work at a lfs, come in around when they are about to close or there is no manager, and get a free fish or two. But the best when it comes to "if it dies" policy is 14 days around here, some dont even have it.
