Do Fish Fins Grow Back?

You will be pleased to hear that they do regenerate :) Usually to the same length as previously but not always, glad to hear you have seperated your unsuitable tankmates. What other fish is the betta with? Make sure that the tail does not pick up fin rot or another infection.

If the fin is bitten/torn off from the body. it may not grow back, this happened with an african cichlid my dad had, it's tail was bitten of, and didn' grow back after the next few years :)

My betta got its fins torn off by tetras...it is an all blue male the fins did grow back but they came back with red streaks in them...I rather like the colour of him now then the all blue he was before (lol) one of my other males (their in seperate tanks) got caught under a rock and I could not find him when I did all the skin on the side of his head was gone from him trying to get out, that grew back and you cant tell the difference from before he got hurt....A tetra lost his hole tail and that all grew back too....as Admin said I put in some extra water conditioner which also helps with fin rot....

Yeah, if the tail is damaged all the way to the caudal peduncle it may not grow back, but I'm guessing that's not the case with your fish :). Fish are very fast healers, and the tail will grow back over the next couple of weeks I imagine.
