I got a green cory yesterday, but he we feeling lonely being the only three incher so today I bought two siblings from the same pet store. I noticed that the siblings were darker green while the single cory was lighter green.

I'm theorizing that cories have the ability to lighten or darken to better blend into the substrate, in my case, play sand. It's been 24 hours since I bought the additional cories and I can see a noticeable difference.

I took my peppered cories out of the sandy tank and put them into a dark gravel tank and they darkened.

Am I correct in thinking this?

hi SSC
yeah i did the same with my bronze and peppers changed substrate from sand to dark graval
and they darkend in coulor aswell .
so they must :good:

Yep

They also lighten when stressed and at other times of excitement their colors lighten or deepen.

But they will adjust to blend in.
