they will only kill and eat fish much smaller than they that will fit in their mouths with relative ease, like rosy reds or very small goldfish, usually

trust me on this, convicts are pretty nasty when it comes to small tankmates. I accidently dropped a tadpole in there and they ripped in to shreds, then eating it. I feed them other things and they eat it too. So in short, they eat, or will at least have a go at a fish smaller than them.
