I 'v got a lot of bogwood in my tank and the clowns hide underneath. But not many plants - some microsorum and anubias growing on wood. But maybe the clowns like more heavily planted tank?
Any other suggestions how to make these fish bolder?
I got mines a week ago and they are still hiding most of time. I know it's normal, they need time, but anyway... My biggest concern is that the don't get enough food - they don't come out for food and my 15 greedy tiger barbs eat all their worms. I even used a pipe to drive the worms into their cave, but the barbs climbed into the cave while loaches didn't move at all....

Have you tried an algae wafer just after lights out ?

I have 10 of which 6 were from a smaller tank (240L) with 2 angels and 6 corys and they were always outgoing.
My other 4 are quite large and don't seem to come out as much, but after starting the above, and giving them more caves, plants etc I see them quite a lot.

Generally, the more comfortable they feel, the more you will see them. If you only have one cave, they'll likely stay in it alot but with alot of cover they should get bolder.

Also, having just moved them will result in them being reclusive. After a big move (swapping tanks, coming home from petstore), they get very skiddish.

Feeding after lights out should help with them being able to get food. It'll take the barbs longer to find it and the loaches will get move active

they like plants, any sort of hiding place

they like to rip up plants too

I must be lucky, as they have been OK with my plants.
It would be a different matter if the plants were not rooted well

Hello!

My clown loach seem to prefer wood. They nip some times at the plants, nothing serious.

For the feeding part, I'm giving them "Nutrafin Max - Sinking complete food tablets" when i'm not sure they ate enough.
It's something like algae waffer but its not algae !

I also give them normal flakes but I put the flakes directly in the water. Wet flakes sink and my loach just go really fast and eat it before it reaches the bottom.
