Do Cleaner Shrimp Eat The Ich Parasite

ok thanks its just that my fire fish has a mild case of it and i dont realy want to treat with any meds 1. because it weakens their immune system to future attacks and 2. i havent got a spare tank to put the fish in to treat it. i am feeding dried seaweed which will boost his immune system and hoping that the shrimp will pluck them off him.

if your lucky, the firefish may respond, and its slime coat my increase in thickness, and stop them from attaching.

but you may end up loosing him, in that case you will need to run the tank fallow for 6-8 weeks

Cleaner shrimp do a reasonable job of light peppering, but are no good for full blown infections. tey will have the spots off and eat them, but are too small to have a big effect on a major outbreak

just imagined 100 of cleaner shrimp jumping on a tang and cleaning off ich like a car wash

Also you have to have a cleaner shrimp that will actually clean and a fish that will stand still long enough to be cleaned. I have only seen my skunk cleaning a fish twice in the year I have had him (though he does clean my hands when they are in there :) ).

mine used to jump onto my hand but ihe dont any more as i dont put my hand in as much because of the fuzzy lion fish
and yes i know the lion fish could eat the shrimp but the shrimp sits in the rocks and when it does come out which is like once a year the lion fish doesnt care about it and could easily eat it with out blinking but he dont
