All my shrimps poop loads

But obviously, the more they eat the more they poop.

:hyper: someone answered me yay!

I am wondering whether to out the Amano shrimp in my b/f bigger tank and have some smaller shrimp like cherry?

I know you say all shrimp poo alot but would smaller be a little better for my small tank? its 35L :)

Thanks

Errm.... They should be fine in the 35L. Shrimps don't contribute much to the bioload as long as you don't over feed them. If you replace them with cherries then you might get an ever growing population which in turn will increase the bioload as time goes by.

Yep, all my shrimp poop a lot too :).

Shrimp tend to be better at scavenging than fish though, so if you add them to a tank with fish they wont add as much to the bioload, since they will be able to feed of the food the fish miss and/or algae depending on the tank.

The exception would be fan shrimp, which being bigger, produce as much poop as plecs do IME if you feed them properly (at least every couple of days with powdered shrimp/fish food).

However in a shrimp only tank where you will need to feed the shrimp directly, they would add more to the bioload. With a decent filter, you would be able to fit loads of small shrimp in a 35L with no problems :good:. Bioload wise I'd say a maximum of 20 amanos depending on the filter (as they can get pretty big), but ideally you would only want 5-6 maximum as they can get a little boisterous when bigger IME and a 35L could feel a little too crowded for any more than that :).
