Do Algae Eaters kill????

I believe Golden Algae Eaters are simply a colour variant of the Chinese Algae Eater, so unfortunately the answer is no.

P.T.

What you described is definitely a Chinese Algae eater and I agree...take him back to the store. I bought one for my 10g (didnt know about them) and he was fine for a while, cleaned all the brown algae from my tank, but then he stopped eating algae and would feed on the algae wafers I throw in for my cories. Then one day during my routine gazing into the tank I saw him swim up really fast to my gourami and attached himself. The gourami quickly shook him off and swam away. I only saw this once but that was enough. HE was outta there! The lfs wont take him back so I gave him to a friend with a much larger aquarium than mine. He's doing better in there. Get rid of yours before its too late.

I thought so!!!! Then why are these ****** fish being sold for community tanks!!!??????

Thanks for all the responses they were truely helpful. I couldn't find the receipt, so I had to give them to a neighbor. I think I will invest in a Otocinclus affinis which I have read about on a previous thread.

I have kept The Golden Algae Eaters, But I made Sure they were in a group of 3-4 So that Any Voilence was Directed at themselves.
They Never Touched any of the Fish unless there Were Casualty's between the Other Fish.

Mine Grew to 5Inches Each and were Very Stunning Fish, Untill an Inceident with a Mango left in Over Night By the Missus.
