Diy Wood And Logs?

well i was wondering if anyone has ever just went into the woods or walked along the beack, seen a chunk of wood, and thought "that would look awesome in my tank!" well i have and i was wondering if it would work out good and what to do to prepare it properly for my tank....thanks alot!

I went to the beach this weekend for some. Find a couple nice little pieces (about 5-7 inches), but I was looking for a large 18-20 inch piece. Need to do more hunting next weekend.
