I'm wanting a way to polish my water up to a very high standard and am thinking about the following idea:
An RO water housing with a 1 micron sediment particle filter in the middle.  I will attach a TMC V2 800 water pump to to the inlet to force the water through the water housing/particle filter.

Does this seem to be a good idea or not?

Thanks

I think it would clog quickly. I would run the existing water through a 50/100 micron sock. Do you have a sump? What is your setup .

Yes I have a sump.  The flow currently goes into a filter sock > corse sponge >bio balls > ceramic media > floss/purigen > UV light/return pump.

Despite this I still seem to get particles.  I know its not a bacteria boom/green water etc...

I wouldn't be running this all the time, maybe every couple of days just to clear the water.

If you feed your fish and your fish poop have large fish or high stocking you will always have debris in the water, regular substrate clearing and in your case clearing your socks every other day is by far the best way to reduce floating particulates and also sometimes going daft with loads of floss reduces flow through your filter system to an extent it actually does loads less mechanical filtration. by all means give your idea a try it might work well for your situation

One of the best ways I've found to quickly remove loads of debris is to cut the bottom off a pop bottle stuff it full of floss and the neck of the bottle is fitted to the intake of a 750 L/hr power head as can be seen in this video but you could place it in your sump rather than the tank as it's shown here,

What I will do on my discus upgrade is get an oversized return pump from the sump and run the return water through layers of floss in a canister filter that broke and I kept aside for this.

I removed the impeller and anything else that could be in the way of the water flow, so that the pump will only have to force the water through the floss and getting the pump oversized means that I can dial down the flow if needed.

Another thing: two of the baskets on the filter are empty, that means that I can use one for nitrate or phosphate removing media and still have one basket free for carbon should I need it.

If you don't have a broken canister filter (though I'm sure you'll easily find one if you put out a classified) you can easily build yourself a rough equivalent, or if you live in the UK look at this:

What micon are your socks? If they are 100 or more then get some 50's and stick your other ones in them for a day or two. By doing this the smaller micron socks dont clog as fast. Also is top of water floating with particulars?. My plans are to add an outlet on my return to reduce flow to the tank and send it back to the sump into a 50 or smaller micron sock.

Purigen should keep your water crystal clear.  I use to use that, but not anymore, heard some horror stories about it so I stopped.  Now I have reusable 50/100 micron material that I add to my powerhead and it cleans it good.

Thanks for all the replies.  Think I'll give the bottle idea a go first off.  At some point might try my idea as I will only have to buy the filter cartridges and can get them off ebay for next to nothing.
