Diy Tank Hood A

Ok so about 2 mobth ago whilst i was at the local rubish tip i came across a 2ft 70l tank. I fished it out of the skip and got it home and gave it a good scrub.

This weekend ive started on the hood for the tank. I got some mdf skirting boarf from the DIY shop and set to work.

I measured and cut the skirting board on my chop saw at 45 degree angles and cut two strips of mdf for the top.

Brilliant! Looks excellent. Can't believe it is 2 months since you found this tank. Only seems like a few weeks ago. lol.
 
Wont the mdf get saturated with water, rot and fall to pieces or did you treat it?
 
Hi OP - inspired by yourself I did the same with MDF skirting board, but it my own way:

I used a lighting unit going cheap from my LFS (extracted from a shattered tank). The aluminium struts are for LEDs to be added shortly.
