I am planning on making a tank 4ft(h) 4ft(w) 2ft(l) which i have used this calculator to calculate and it says 239.37 UK Gallons

My question is... What thickness glass should i use for this?

I am using this as my base plan.

Thanx for any advice.
Chris

10mm glass would be the minimum and 19mm plywood (3/4")
good luck and post pics :)

would 18mm ply be ok? ive been given a price of £60 cut to size (no window cut for the glass) and delivery so im pretty happy with that :D

18 mm ply would be perfect

if i were you i would put a few handles on the sides so as you can lift it real easy cause a tank that size all finished is going to be quite heavy

I have now decided to go for a 3ft(H) 3ft(W) 2ft(L) because if fill the tank with water the bloke ownstairs will get wet because i live in a converted mansion that is over 100 years old and the floor is just old floor boards so i think 1 metric ton of weight is just too much for 100 year old floor boards

The new size should be just over half a ton.

Cheers
Chris
