I think i need to make some new valves for my filter, because the ones i got with my canister filter really promote surface movement... and im trying to set up a planted tank. Does anyone have plans for some DIY valves, or inlets, or just info.

Can you get black PVC?, i really want to keep the tubing, piping etc out of eyes view.

Nevermind :*) Sorry I posted about the black pvc here, but it's still too big for what you're looking at using it for.

I had a similar problem with my internal power filter, 2000l/h in a 55gal, I use 15mm pvc (type used on diy home irrigation kits) and connectors to distribute the
flow throughout the tank, now I have powerful filtration with littel current :)

The white pvc is known as schedule 40 pipe....it comes in a range of sizes from 1/2" up to 12".....it handles up to around 160 psi....but there is also schedule 80, which comes in dark grey....same sizes, just a higher psi rating, as if we would ever need that much load in fish keeping...lol....unfortunately, most series pipe only comes in white and sched pipe is a bit more expensive, but the fittings have the same ID to match the OD of both series and sched pipe....Home Depot and other hardware stores should have anything you need....or you can go to an irrigation distributor to find what you need. Good luck!

hey black pvc is essentially ABS pipe and avail;able inexpensively at any hardware or home improvement center. as this pipe is used for drainage purposes usually most of it is air tested when installed and any pressure over 5psi might be pushing it but if your only going to run water throughit tyoull be ok. also at refrigeration supply stores they have several small valves and fittings you could use that will withstand hig pressures.
hope this is of some use

Just so you guys know, you can just color white PVC black with a sharpie marker. It sounds toxic, but I know many people that have done it and also some studies done on it. It's safe!
