I'm in the middle of planning out making a DIY stand myself so I'm paying a lot of attention to this.

Did any major problems come up in your design you would have changed now if you would do it again?

If i were to do this again, I would route the inside of the plywood around the metal strapping, it proved a bit challenging to keep the wood flush over top of the metal, and more so the screws. Or find a different type of strapping.

I could probably get my dad over here to do it for me lol. He always was a better handy man than me. Unless it was spray paint. I can do anything with spray paint. If only I could spray paint something on my fish tank. I'm feeling :evil: lol!

Yeah I did wonder how it went putting the shell over the strapping like that.

I'll be very curious to see how you build the doors, as that's one part of the design I'm finding difficult to visualize for myself.

i am not going to spray paint it, i dont think it would look very well. I will be adding a Walnut stain and clear coat on top of that.

Oh no not your stand sorry for any confusion. This old spouse suggested I spray paint the back of my tank.

Maybe a nice coat of light blue. I could turn it into a nice shrimp tank or something or other.

i have yet to add the stain. i may wait until the spring to do so. I really wanted to get the fishless cycle going so the stand is in the living room and water has been added

Looking great. It's always nice to buld it yourself because your only limit is skill - you set the specs
