Looking to better my lighting system on my 4ft tropical tank.
All i have at the moment is the 2 loose end connectors on a 42" tropical tube with a reflector onto a piece of wood which sits on either side of my tank.
I've been looking at the prices of the lighting hoods and for a decent one and the cheapest one for my tank size is over £80 at least, which i haven't got to pay out at then moment.
I've seen a few Youtube videos where they use shop fitting lights and such and was wondering has anyone got any ideas on what i could use for a cheap price?
I like the look of the lighting hoods/canopies which clip on either side of the tank but they cost too much.
Any help would be apprieciated guys as my set up is near perfect now except for the lighting look.
P.S...I don't have a lid or hood on my tank, i prefer the glass sliders.

glass cut to size at your local hardware store, I priced it before and it was going to be a total of $12 for the glass on my 55 gallon tank (4 pieces so I could slide the front ones back) and you could look into a standard 48" shop light
