hi all who reads this :)
im thinking of housing some more lights on my rio 240 and was thinking of using guttering as ive heard it has been done before anyone with any info on this would be gr8
cheers :D

A quick google search came up with this:
http://rcarchive.com/fish/hood/

It's pretty easy, but not too many people use it. I guess it just doesn't look right to have a rain gutter on the top of your tank  As you can see in the pictures of the website, it doesn't look to asthetically pleasing to the eye if you want to have that in your living room. But it might work better if you designed it well, so that it actually looks like a hood. The reflection of the hood is really well too, so you won't need to add reflectors.

All you need after the gutters are some fittings, lights, and bits and pieces of screws to mount.

thank you just what i was looking for hoping to find some black guttering so it will blend in a little more :D

I don't know if there is black guttering...but if there really isn't, you could always spray paint it to make it look better. Keep us updated, I haven't really seen anybody with guttering for a hood cept that website.

ok will do went to local homebase and they have black guttering but its just a bit on the small side might look elsewhere at the week end will take some pics if i go ahead :D

thats not bad sharp tooth but i think im going to make a wooden hood out of conti board from BnQ they do a beach colour and im going to get them to cut it to the sizes i need.
thanks for all the info guys n gals :D
