Diy Co2?

I was thinking of just putting an airstone just below my filter intake so co2 goes into that but is it safe??

I'd put the airstone just under the outflow so it spreads the CO2 around. If you put it by the intake it will just get sucked up into the filter and possibly harm the bacteria with a high concentration.

Nice little set up. Sorry I didn't reply to your first, was kinda busy around the end of January.

I'd be interested to see what recipe you're using and how long it lasts for you. Also have you considered a double bottle arrangement with non-return valves so you can stagger the bottle changes to keep things even more stable?

This is my first batch, and I mixed 2 cups of sugar with 1 teaspoon of yeast in 110º water. I'm not sure how long it will last, but from research I'm expecting about 5 days.

I actually did think about a double bottle system and may switch to that later. I do have a check valve on my current setup. For the time being I think I'll leave everything as is for a month or so to see how it all pans out. I chucked some of the most algae-ridden leaves today just because they're so ugly. Maybe the CO2 will keep it from spreading, at least. I hope ...
