Hi,

was wondering if anyone knows where i can get one of those air line nipple things for the bottle lids in the uk? i've tried just using silicone round the tubing and it holds for about 2 weeks then it just comes off and i have to redo it, it's starting to get on my nerves abit now! lol! i've had a bit of a look around but can't seem to find any so if anyone can point me in the right direction it would be much appreciated, cheers.

I asked this question not so long back.

Someone suggested RSComponents (google for it) but as yet, I've not found these nipples (also known as hose attachments) in their catalog.

I emailed them recently to try to find the correct size from them, but not had a reply.

If you do find them, please let me know. If I find them, I'll post a link too.

(I'm getting fed up with the seals not being very good too!)

making the seal is easy, but messy, the best way i found was to smear some silicone around the pipe before you put it into the hole. then blob some on both sides of the hole to form a full seal and make sure you leave it 48 hrs before you use it.

thanks bigian, i'll have a go at doing it that way see if i can get it to seal.

What you want is "bulkhead fittings" for fuel, from a radio control aircraft shop... barbs on both ends for pipe, and a nut to secure it into the lid hole !

I was just going to suggest going to a plumbers supply joint for the parts. I'd get a piece of copper pipe and use "two part epoxy" instead of silicone to hold it in place. It's amazing what one can find useful in a supply house that can be used in aquarium .

Im going to use an Airline Plastic Straight Connector from here (Bottom of page) Try that if everyone else agrees it would be a good idea.

Hi:
Go to a remote control model gasoline aircraft hobby store and get a metal through bulkhead fitting. This is only a threaded tube the size of airline that you put through the container lid and put a washer and nut (s/b included with the through wall fitting) on each side and tighten securely. If you are concerned with leaking simply put some Teflon tape on each side. Will likely never leak and cannot come loose. Way ahead of the silicone nightmare and will likely cost only a couple of bucks (say 1 pound).

Go to a model shop and get a fuel tank barb, They ahve one part that slides through the holes and a bezel that screws up on the inside and forms a seal. then you just slide the hose over the barb...

I would suggest a little further investigation. CO2 is quite corrosive to plastic. There are metal fittings of a similar design that will not corrode.

I have used both silicone and the hot glue gun method, and both failed. Then I used this little puppy and never looked back. I just caked the top of the cap where the airline runs in and it still hasn't leaked to date.

ok i jus finished making mine.

to seal the top im using the little plastic bit you get on the end of tubing for air stones and stuff.


ive jus siliconed that to the lid so the tube can still come off the bottle without the whole lid.


ill let you kno if it works!
