Thought I'd post a pic of my DIY CO2 reactor. It seems to work really well. Found several examples on the internet built from a power head and a gravel vac. I didn't have a power head but I did have a submersible pump laying around so I used that.

Here is how it is constructed: I got a cheap gravel vac tube and put a hole in the top, next to the existing hose house nipple. I glued an air house joint into this hole and attached a small section of hose on the inside, ending in an airstone. The line from the 3 liter bottles attaches to the outside. A small piece of hose joins the large nipple on the gravel vac tube to the output of the submersible pump. The CO2 builds up an a bubble at the top of the gravel vac tube. The flow of water from the pump keeps the CO2 from escaping and causes the water/CO2 to mix, with the water containing disolved CO2 exiting out the bottom.

Here is a pic:

You shoudl consider adding some filter floss to the bottom. It keeps any co2 that gets pushed down, etc... from escaping out the bottom and forces dissolutoin. :)

Very well placed in the tank. It looks like it will hide well. :)
