you can see my tank and fish here.
It's changed a little since then, I'm going to try and get some more pics and put them on later today or tomorrow.
Just another note about the air curtain. I did have a bubble line which was just a tube with holes in that suckered on to the back of the tank. I found it made the airline very noisy, and the bubbles that came off it weren't as fine or well spaced out as the air curtain which is made from a pourous material and has weights that you can bury into the gravel or sand. Much nicer and quieter!!!!

hi. I'm in new zealand. about the sucky things, I can buy them at my lfs so you must be able to get them somewhere. if not, just get a cheap toy with them on and cut them off :p

I was going to try making my own holes in tubing my self. In nz they're about $25 as apposed to $4.00 for an air stone.
Since I can't afford the air tubey thing either this is what I've done:

I'll draw a picture thingy. If you get it that is????

ok. if you or anyone gets all this. It's the first time I've ever "drawn" using the keypad. anyway. This is my set up. My air stones are on the gravel, hidden behind the wood, plants, rocks etc. theres 3 streams of bubbles go up, about 6 cm wide each. and it looks really cool. I don't have a massive airpump. It's a masterpet 2001. quite small really with alot of power.

Well, that's my idea. Just get about 1 metre xtra piping, 3 airstones (of your choice :p and a connecter thingy (sorry I dunno what they're called). And away you go.
I hope this helps or gives you an idea anyway.

ok. I dont' think my last post worked exactly. :*) The "picture" is supposed to show my air pump with the hose going to a connector thingy with 3 bits pointing down. Connect 3 Pipes with 3 airstones (oblong ones are the best for the visual afect) and place them on the gravel, one on the two back corners and one in the middle. you'll have 3 streams of bubbles and It looks really cool! :D

so my story is you can make these your self haha i jus made one about 2 min ago it took me 5 min to make one that is 12 inches long......what i did is toow some soft tubbing ....try to use hard stuff so the rubber does not shrink .....anyways i took a drill press and put the smallest possible drill bit i could find and drilled holes every 5 millimeters and make sure you make those holes pretty big drill each one out for a couple seconds to make sure you get a hole instead of a cut that will seal back up....anyways after i did that i put a air stone on the end ...you could plug it but i though why not have an airstone since i had an extra one and i set small rocks on each end to hold it down and one in the middle pluged it into my pump and voila a free! air curtain........if you dont have these things such as a drill press or a small bit its cheaper to buy a curtain at a store haha than buy a bit.....you can even use any drill it does not have to be a drill press
