I need to divide this tank for 2 bettas to go in, can someone give me some advise on how to do this please?

Easy way is to buy a divider kit at your lfs :)
To me that's the most secure, but I'm sure lots of people have other ideas.

You'll find that most lfs will sell them. If it's not something you look out for, you probably just haven't noticed them before.

This is what I read somewhere about making a divider like what they would sell at a lfs...

Get some plastic needlepoint canvas, craft store or craft section of department store

Get some report binders from a business supply store, the plastic kind that would hold papers together with tension

Cut the canvas to the size wanted, attach the binders to the sides of the aquarium with silicone sealant. (You'll have to take it all apart and dry it out to do this)

Slide the canvas into the channels of the binders

This would be better with pictures...

I have a friend who breeds bettas. She keeps a large tank with 2 and 3 liter bottles with the tops cut off and holes punched in the sides and the water about 10 inches deep. Some fish in bottles, some in the main water, all sharing the same filtered, heated water. That set up isn't very pretty though. It's a necessity thing.

lol to true...just got my second betta today, i found him in a tank full of females! some people! named him A.J. and hes happy in my kitchen now :fun:

I use the plastic canvas also but i dont secure it. I just make sure that its not presisly the sides of the sides so it kinds curves in and i just make sure its sucre compressed to the wall. I push the gravel on it. And trust me a betta is not able to get to the other side. At least mine havent and ive had them there for a while. :D

a craft store is probably your best bet to get plastic canvas. where i live we also have walmart and the fabric stores locally always have the plastic canvas in the supply aisles!!

That "should" do - if it's strong (rigid) enough. It's only £3 incl P&P, so if it doesn't work it's at least not loads of money wasted.

It reads 5 count for the mesh on there, personally I would feel the holes could be a little too large and the bettas may be able to bite eachother through that. I use 7 count which is just big enough to let plenty of water flow through.

I searched craft shops but only found it available through wool shops or anywhere that does cross-stitch and needlecraft. I got it for 90 pence a sheet. I believe Hobbycraft stock it too and I also found it in Beatties. The report binders I got from a cheap stationery shop for 99p for 10 and you need 4 of them, so a lot cheaper than buying a purpose made divider for £8.99!

Good luck in finding some.
