Once MAXIMUM!! Well that's my opinion anyway! I like to give my fish as much room as possible though so........I guess that's just my personal opinion.

I would also say once, although once I got my 2.5 it seemed a lot smaller than I had imagined, so I decided not to divide it. On the other hand I have a 5 gallon that works out perfectly.

I would say you could divide it twice for the girls. Thats just my opinion though. Alot of people may say only once. :)

Thanks Mariah I was hoping that one person would say it was ok to divide it twice :)

Well let's see. The absolute minimum tank size recommended for a betta is one gallon, and you can only divide a 2.5 gallon once while still providing each fish with 1 gallon or more. Dividing it twice wouldn't kill them or anything, but 2.5 gallons looks a lot smaller than it sounds, so you wouldn't be doing them any favours by dividing it more than once.

Ive got three females that I wanted to divide it for. If I divide Mozarts and Rogers 2.5s would that be ok???(Roger and Yasmin in one and Mozart and Yessica in the other one)

Yep, that sounds like a good arrangement :)

I currently have two of my 2.5 gallon tanks divided in two and my fish are perfectly happy :)
If you divide the tank into two there are each in a little under 1 gallon of water. The way I look at it is if thats what you have to do to keep your bettas, there better off with you than back in a pet store.
I say go for it if you want too. My girls are fine in a divided twice 2.5 tank.
Just my opinion though.
:D

I probrobaly would have done that with them but since the new arrangment Roger has started to make bubble nests again and he seems happier with a Girl in his tank and 2 other girls in the tank right next to him.
